Mountain resort Dalat is preparing to host the first Miss Ethnic Vietnam beauty contest from December 12 to 22 this year.

The contest, to be held during the Dalat Flower Festival, aims to serve as a bridge between the 54 ethnic groups living across the country.

Besides pageants in traditional costumes and bikini, contestants will also take part in events like horse riding, bike racing, mountain climbing, cooking, floral arrangements, and singing.

The winner will receive a cash prize of VND100 million (US$6,100) plus a scholarship worth US$7,000 to the Cambridge Business School in Singapore.
