Discovering Hue, the Ancient Capital of Vietnam for two days. Travelers can learn as much about communist wars as reveling in the city’s ancient history or get up-close with nature.
ITINERARY IN DETAIL
Day 1: Hue airport/Station + Hue Imperial city half day tour (L)
A morning flight brings you to the ancient city of Hue. Start the day with a Dragon boat trip on Perfume River to admire the romantic landscape alongside.
Next, you will spend your time to visit Thanh Tien paper flower-making village with the 300 year-old. For a long time, Thanh Tien paper flower has become a culture in the folk beliefs of Hue people. Today, it is not only has the meaning in worship but also has the aesthetic and cultural values. The villagers use paper as main material to create paper flowers such as lily, daisy, climbing rose, carnation, lotus, etc… with a variety of shapes and colors. Especially, you also have opportunity to make a small product by yourself under the instruction of friendly hostess. Walking around to visit the ancient temple and communal house in the village to understand more about the culture and history of the village located in the downstream of romantic Perfume River.
We will tour the Citadel, a fortress surrounded by a moat that has a 10km (6mile) perimeter.
Enjoy a walk within the walls of the Citadel and explore the ruins of the home of the royal family.
Have lunch at local restaurant.

Day 2: City Hue full day (B, L)
Our guide and car will meet you at hotel and start biking (14 km) on small lanes through rural villages to Thien Ma and Thanh Toan covered bridges where you may have the chance to meet an old lady fortune teller. Experience the daily life of people along the river and discover rice fields, temple, school, local market.
Ride past rice paddies, duck farms and favorite fishing spots, and gain insight into local Vietnamese life by visiting a local school, a museum and a farmer’s home.
After lunch at local restaurant, your car will transfer you back to Hue’s city centre with en-route visit the Ngoc Son Princess ‘garden house’. It has an attractive family altar and the owner is an expert on Hue’s culture and history – he will be pleased to explain the geomantic principles underpinning the building and garden’s construction.
Your route will take you to visit Khai Dinh Tomb - best known for its stunning concrete structure, mixing well between Western designs and traditional Eastern culture.
You'll also have time to experience daily life of Hue's locals with a visit to the Dong Ba market before returning to your hotel for a good night’s rest.
