ITINERARY
Witness the richness of Vietnam’s Imperial past on this one day tour. A one day guided tour taking in the highlights of Vietnam’s Imperial City.
07:00 Guide and car pick you up at your hotel in Hoi An, for the morning drive of 140 km to Hue. Stop at the spectacular Hai Van Mountain Pass and travel through scenic fishing villages.
10:30 Upon arrival in Hue visit the Tomb of Tu Duc. A vast, sprawling complex set around a lake, with wooden pavilions, tombs and temples dedicated to wives and favored courtesans (Tu Duc had 104 to choose from). The courtesans’ quarters are in ruins, with only outlines and crumbling walls left amid waves of overgrown grass and silence, but other areas are stunningly well-preserved.
11:30 Visit Thuy Xuan village where locals make a living by crafting the famous Hue conical, poetry hats and colourful incense.
12:00 Lunch at a local restaurant.
13:00 We board a wooden boat for a trip down the Perfume river to the Thien Mu Pagoda, a serene Buddhist site overlooking the river.
14:30 Your guide will then take you to explore the tomb of Khai Dinh, before taking in the impressive Citadel. Visit the Flag Tower, Noon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns and the Nine Holy Cannons, finally stopping off at Thai Hoa Palace - The emperor’s coronation hall and the surrounding ruins of the Forbidden Purple City.
15:30 Drive back to Hoi An. Enjoying the landscape en route.
18:00 Arrive back in Hoi An.
