THE “DON CA TAI TU”
Rewarded as Representative List of the Intangible Cultural
Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO), Đờn ca tài tử is genre of
instrumental and vocal traditional music which arose in
South Vietnam. The music and songs evoke the people’s
life and work on the land and rivers of the Mekong Delta
region. Performed at numerous events such as festivals,
death anniversary rituals and celebrations, “Don ca tai tu”
is thus intimately connected with other cultural practices
and customs, oral traditions and handicrafts.
TRADITIONAL FOOD
Last but not least, food is one of the greatest things in
Mekong Delta Vietnam. Visitors will not want to miss
the taste of Duong Dua (the coconut worm steamed in
coconut juice), Bun Mam (vermicelli served with fish
sauce), Banh Cong (Vietnamese crispy muffin cake) and
Bot Loc (a starchy cake), etc.
