Be one of the first to explore the beautiful Unesco Phong Nha caves. An incredible 2-day trip to one of Vietnam’s most spectacular caves. With an overnight stay in the heart of the Phong Nha Ke Bang conservation area.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Hue – Phong Nha (L/D)
At 7am your car and guide will take you on the beautiful drive to Phong Nha Caves. Through the Quang Tri province along the spectacular Highway 1, we stop off at Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam. Have lunch at a local restaurant before driving the final part of our journey to Phong Nha. We board a classic Vietnamese boat and cruise along the river taking us deep into the cave, right in the heart of a limestone mountain range. We pass by magically illuminated, natural limestone formations, stunning stalagmites and stalactites which are thousands of years of existence. 700 m into the caves we get the chance to disembark from the boat and take an extraordinary walk through 500m of some of the finest and most distinctive examples of karst landforms, with the opportunity to explore the remains of Cham Alters and marvel at the old Champa inscriptions etched deep in the limestone centuries ago.

Day 2: Phong Nha – Hue (B/L)
After breakfast, we bid farewell to our host and head towards Phuoc Tich Village, located in Phong Hoa Commune. The village, established over 500 years ago is famous nationwide for it’s pottery. After a picnic lunch we go on a walking tour of the village, where you will have a chance to see the various pottery ware, beautiful landscapes and the 37 ancient wooden houses. Each house is closely attached to the history of a family which still preserves some antiques and heirlooms made of ceramic or wood from many centuries ago. Drive back to Hue arriving at approximately 15.30.
